Choosing the Jesus Way 4:4
Part 4:4 (Stuck in a Rut)
Have you ever just felt stuck in a rut?
Like, you’re not sure what to do, or where you’re going in life. Do things seem like they’ve settled into a place where you’re comfortably uncomfortable?
I get that.
I’ve been there, constantly navigating through storms, seeking guidance and transformation in my heart and mind.
It’s been quite a journey, but along the way I realized something, God was trying desperately to help me get past my feelings and to relinquish control over my life. At first, it felt like I was being tossed around, but I soon realized that God was working in those challenging moments.
I wasn’t sure what to do except cry out to Him.
I was definitely in the valley low.
His comforting presence reminded me of the victory He has over sin and shame, reinforcing my identity as His beloved daughter and His identity as my Abba Father.
Sometimes we get caught up in the mundane things of life, or maybe we get hooked on all of the negative influences that the world is feeding us these days. Fear, vanity, sensuality, perfection, and the constant pursuit of power and control dominate our thoughts.
But there is a way out of this rut,
a secret that you may already know—
praise God..
YUP. Simple, and easy…you may think. But actually, it can be quite a challenge when you’re overcome by your feelings and not by the Truth that sets you free!
So, HOW do you do it?
Oh, dear friend…take a look at the Psalms! They were written for days like these! Take a notebook and start journaling with one praise a day. Make it yours.
Here are some bullet journaling tutorials that you can use for an outline! I like Shayda’s journals because they’re fun and pretty.
Reflect on His wonderful qualities: He is our mighty Counselor, a remarkable teacher, and the sacrificial giver of eternal life. He is kind, gentle, and faithful. He has washed away our shame, comparing us to blooming roses and beautiful brides. He knew us before we were born, and He lovingly cares for every detail of our lives.
I invite you to try it for yourself….take a moment to read this out loud (it’s filled with scripture to speak over yourself!)
What has God done for you today?
A simple post for today, but a necessity for our walk with Him.
I often turn to Philippians 4:4-9, using it as a guiding scripture in my own circumstances:
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. YAHWEH is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Next time you’re stuck come back to this verse and fix your eyes on the One who makes all things new and the One through whom we can do all things. It requires discipline, but it is through these challenging times that we grow and experience God's peace.
I pray that you would truly find peace no matter the outcome of your current situation. If you want to talk, please feel free to connect with me here.
If you feel like you need more 1:1 time to talk something out I also offer prayer and counsel sessions for $30 at this time. My goal isn’t to make a ton of money off of this by charging for these sessions, as I’m not a licensed professional at this time, but the funds will help offset the cost of this website and the media subscriptions that I use to create the content I try to share regularly with you all. :]
Thanks for tuning in this week and I hope you’ll come back next week for the beginning of our new 4 part series When Others Fail Us Part 1.
Shabbat Shalom friends!
